Show the link: specific competences, assessment criteria and basic knowledge from Real Decreto 217/2022, then one learning situation. Explain that language is taught for real communication, with a final task and a clear audience.
Mediation is often the weak point. Give a concrete task: summarising a text for a classmate, explaining a chart, helping someone who has missed part of a conversation. Link it to the Common European Framework and say how you assess it.
Avoid both extremes. Describe how a structure appears in context, how students notice it, practise it and use it in a meaningful task. Mention when you give explicit explanation and why.
Lower the anxiety first: pair work, planning time, sentence frames and low-stakes speaking routines. Explain how you correct errors without interrupting communication, and how you assess progress, not only accuracy.
Start from the initial assessment. Then explain tiered tasks with one common goal, flexible groups and support materials. Tell the panel how the assessment criteria stay the same while the scaffolding changes.
Give specific measures: longer time, audio support, clear layout, oral assessment where appropriate and explicit phonics work. Say what you assess in each task, and how you coordinate with the guidance department.
Name your instruments: a rubric for spoken production, recorded tasks, peer feedback and listening tasks with real purposes. Connect each one to an assessment criterion and say how often you collect evidence.
Give examples of authentic input: podcasts, news, videos, e-mails. Explain how you adapt the task rather than the text, and how you handle digital safety, copyright and AI tools critically.
Value the languages your students already know and use them as a resource. Give a task where students compare cultures without stereotypes. Mention how this connects with the other language departments at your school.
Analyse the evidence by criterion, ask the students for feedback and review your own decisions. Then explain the specific change: sequencing, support or task. Link it to the evaluation of your teaching practice.
